Material Distribution featuring Rujuta Rao and Tianyi Sun

All Day

Location: 2nd Floor Balcony

Organized by collective Shisanwu, Material Distribution is a series of interactive installations where heritage, memory, ritual, and tradition are shared through sensory experiences. In response to The Endless Garment: Atlantic Basin, artists Rujuta Rao (India/NY) and Tianyi Sun (China/NY) explore relational aesthetics through participatory performances. Through taste, scent, and text, visitors reflect on the hidden geographies of culinary ingredients, tracing cultural exchanges and migration histories in turn.

Sun will present her work, Store in a Cool, Dry Place—a reconfigured dim sum cart preserving sculptural and edible replicas of Chinese mooncakes and herbal sweets—while Rao will share a new interactive installation titled Draft, which invites audience members to engage with and consume objects and beverages created through various infusion and maceration processes. This iteration of Material Distribution is curated by Serena Chang and Do Tuong Linh.
